Record of Democratic Administrations,
1988-1997, 2000-present
The Democrats held a
majority
on the Niskayuna Town Board for the ten years 1988-1997 inclusively,
and
from 2000 through the present. These are just some of their
accomplishments:

Built new Town Hall on Nott Street East and furnished it through sale of
older one at Balltown Road and Alton Street.
- Fostered the revival of Mohawk Mall, now called Mohawk Commons.

Negotiated a PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) agreement
with the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, benefitting the Town, County,
and Niskayuna School District.
- Built a safe, monitored skateboard facility at Blatnick
Park, the first in the County.
- Built a fenced dog exercise area between Blatnick Park and the new little league fields.
- Construction of Nott Street East allowed new entrance
to High School.
- Reconstructed or repaved over 80 miles of town roads that had long been neglected.
- Established Town's first public
swimming pool at what is now our Recreation Center on Aqueduct Road.
- Constructed new road off Hillside Avenue to allow access to
Recreation Center from the east.
- Constructed pavilion and lacrosse fields at the Community Center.
- Expanded senior and youth recreation activities.
- Established Recycling Center and Solid Waste Transfer
Station on River Road
- Built golf
driving range at Recycling Center
- Obtained 23 acres from GE and constructed the Niskayuna
Soccer Commons
- Created River Road Park.
- Steadily reduced town
indebtedness and maintained a stable town tax rate for over 20 years.
